Japanese Naval Bayonet Wrare 1 Pc Rubber FrogscabbardSquaretrade © ap6.0. Jfjd123 store. Outstanding, hard to come by japanese type 30 bayonet with one piece rubberized combination frog and scabbard. Often referred to as a naval bayonet, it was reportedyl used with the imperial navy's special type 99 rifle. The blade is un-marked and has a false edge. May have been used as larry johnson's book japanese bayonets suggests as a training bayonet (page 65).
The blade is bright steel, shows age and has a couple of dings. Teh light wood grips has a screw and cap assembly. The numbers 94 are burned into the wood. The pommel release button works fine. The pommle top is numbered 188. Crossguard and pommel are blackened. The scabbard is a rare beauty. It is a combination one-piece rubberized adn scabbard. Light brown ni color. There is an oval opening in the frog portion in back, similiar to that of leather frogs. The opening appears to have no functional purpose. Scabbard has one small flaw on reverse, not distracting. Great opportunity to own a hard to come by japanese bayonet rig. |
