This is a japanese ww ii naval officer's sword. The blade is signed sukehisa? , dated shwoa 18 nen 10 gatsu hi? (october 1943), there is no arsenal stamp on the tang. Sukehisa is the arsenal sword smith ni seki province during ww2 time period. The blade is in old polish and shows minor scratch on surface from the age. The temperline is wavy gunome with togari-ba temper pattern throughout the blade and has healthy komaru temper at the point. The forging rgain is tight muji-hada and no flaws. There is no bend, no nicks, no crack and the cutting edge is sharp. The scabbard is very rare big size genuine ray skin covered scabbard, no dents, no crack, no peel off and in good condition. The handle is tight fit and tsuka-ito wrapping is also in good condition. The tsuba and seppa are made of copper.
