Wwii Japan Japanese Samurai Katana Sword In ScabbardWwii japan japanese samurai kaatna sword in scabbard. Acquired from the estate of a wwii veteran. Total length is 33 3/8 inches, measured straight line from end of handle to tip of sword. The wood scabbard has large splits on each side as well as some wood loss i show the lesser crack in my closeup-the other side is a thinner but much longer crack-virtually the entire elngth but the scabbard is still very much intact. Blade appears to me to be in good (+) condition with a few small spots of metal discoloration/spotting-not bad. Great historical relic. All sales in su dollars only. On nov-23-08 at 091910 pst, seller added the following informationupon closer examination of the blade, i realize that it does, in fact, have spots with shallow surface rust-i have attempted to add a few photos showing a few examples. Hence, i retract my good (+) condition assesmsent of the blade.
Also, the hand guard (? ) appears to have a little foreign matter/crud-it shows in the photos i haven't picked at it.
Nonetheless, still a real looker and great piece. On nov-23-08 at 092111 pst, seller added the following informationthat's not rust on the tang (? ) piece between handguard and blade-that's just its color.
